Choosing the best job title for your job advert

Getting your job title wrong on your job advert can make a huge difference in both the number of applicants and more importantly the quality of applicants.

Usually there are too many jobs on a job board for the Job Seekers to simply browse all the jobs. They will enter the job title most relevant to them and click the search box. Your mission is try and second guess what the "best fit" job seeker will be entering and use that as your job title for your ad.

Call a Spade a Spade!

Just because your company has decided to call an Account Manager, a Customer Support Specialist, not everyone else will. By choosing a commonly used Job Title, you will get your ad in front of more job seekers, which means a higher chance of finding the right person.

Another tip we can give you is that if you are looking for an Account Manager with specific POS skills, then enter Account Manager - POS as your job title. The more relevant your job title is, the better results you will get.

P.S. It is also just as important to write an effective advert that gets across the role, what you are looking for in the person and lastly "whats in it for them". Make sure you are truly selling your organisation and the role so it appeals to the best people in the marketplace.
